Comprehensive Eye Health Exams
This is for everyone! This is basically what most people think of when they hear the words optometrist, eye exams, etc. This service goes way beyond just getting a new prescription for glasses, though. We also take a close look at every part of the eye from the front to the back. We check the eye lids and lashes for allergies. We look at the tear film and the cornea. With a high powered lens,we are able to examine the health of the tissue inside of the eyes. There are health problems that often show up in your eyes before they manifest anywhere else in the body. This is why an eye health check every year for every person is so important. We can tell you things about your eyes and your health in general that you may not know otherwise.
Kids eye exams are our favorite!!! Kids are great about telling parents when they feel sick, but they are not great at noticing if their vision is blurry. We see a lot of kids who are struggling in school or have low self-confidence and often the problem is that they just cannot see very well. We are experts at making kids feel safe and comfortable. Some experts estimate that approximately 5% to 10% of pre-schoolers and 25% of school-aged children have vision problems. According to the American Optometric Association (AOA), all children should have their eyes examined at 6 months of age, at age 3 and again at the start of school. Dr. Colston can diagnose if your child is at risk for developing amblyopia or a "lazy eye".
